This was selected as Best Answer While it has been almost 20 years since I last interviewed for a job, I’ve coached candidates and have interviewed for companies. I have found that the hardest question to answer goes something like this: How would you address the concern that perhaps you are over qualified for this job? It’s difficult to answer because I have found that when it’s asked it’s usually a good indicator that the candidate won’t be accepted. When I’ve had to ask it on the employer’s behalf, it’s usually because I like the candidate and I need to have an answer when I form a recommendation. However, I’ve found that in many of these cases, when an employer feels this way, it’s still a no go. Nevertheless, to answer the second part of your question, I recommend this answer: “I would first thank the person who said this about me because it would mean he thought I exceeded his expectations for the job.
