What was the Temptations first number one hit?
Their earliest number one hit was in fact their first single – “My Girl”, released in 1965, a song that never even placed in the UK Top 10. The next song that they reached the top spot with was “I Can’t Get Next To You” in 1969, 4 years after thier initial success. Then in 1971/72 they had two further Number 1 singles in the US. These were “Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me)” in 1971, and “Papa Was A Rollin’ Stone” in 1972.
