What was the Tattersalls attitude during that period, that sort of pre-decision period?
Well our attitude was that if in fact the government was going to embrace gaming at that particular time, that acting in the best interests of our group and the beneficiaries that we should endeavour to put our name forward as one of the people who were interested in the gaming business in Victoria, at that particular time as it as it was pretty well known, the state of Victoria were very concerned about the leakage of personal spending across the board or into NSW and it was estimated at one time that almost $600 million was crossing the border on a daily you know, over a year in pursuit of entertainment by our people in the clubs along the Murray in NSW so with that in mind, we knew that what would happen if gaming was embraced is that the lottery business would suffer, so to protect our interests and to protect the overall business, we decided to put our name forward which we did, we submitted many position papers to the government as to how the industry should be structured and the
