What was the social statement of Victorian era?
Well, the Victorian Era was really all about Social reform. Charles Dickens was huge on social reform, as were other popular writers such as Elizabeth Gaskell. Politics, religion, and social affairs were all a part of this. The Industrial Revolution was part of the Victorian social statement, Gaskell really focuses on this in her Novel North and South, also in that novel Gaskell discusses the growing social consciousness in England. People were certainly beginning to realize there was a definitive upper, middle and lower class. Charles Dickens wrote a lot about child labor laws, and children’s rights in general.
