What was the significance of the Berlin airlift?
The significance of the Berlin Airlift was freeing the West Germany from the shackles of the Soviet Union who had blocked or barricaded roads, rail roads and bridges. It’s significance lies in assisting over 2 million people with food ( flour, wheat , milk etc) and power supplies ( coal and gasoline). It stopped an armed conflict between the Allies and the Soviets immediately after WW2 who had invaded into Germany like the other nations like ( America, France and Britain). The Airlift was an issue of American integrity and an exercise of it’s Airforce might. The Airlift shaped the German history and also helped solidify America as an emerging super power in the 1940’s.
