What was the significance of the battle of New Orleans?
The Battle of New Orleans allowed the Union navy to gain control of the entrance to the Mississippi River. This stopped the flow of Confederate supplies to the Mississippi River Valley. Since the Confederates could not ship Cotton to England, this forced England to buy cotton elsewhere, which reduced the value of the Confedeate bonds.
