What was the rationalization for dealer closures?

0

General Motors of Canada’s rationalization of the Dealer network was extremely difficult and challenging. An extensive list of criteria was developed to determine which dealerships would be retained. Strategic location, proximity to other dealerships, potential for growth and sales, along with many other business factors were considered prior to making our decision. We feel that we have made the best choices for the future of GM and the long term health of our dealer body. This does not make the execution of this plan any easier, as we will be losing some outstanding dealerships that were greatly appreciated in their community. Nevertheless, it is part of our broader restructuring activities, and ultimately, GM Canada will be better positioned with the strongest Dealer network in Canada for our customers and communities. Our goal is to accomplish this reduction in the Dealer network in an orderly, cost-effective and customer-friendly way. As we transition into the consolidated network
