What was the purpose of the Delcan Traffic Impact Study?
The Delcan Traffic Impact Study gave Project Niagara, the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake and the Region of Niagara an understanding of the road capacity on the arterial routes leading to the proposed Project Niagara site. It showed that the incremental increase in traffic caused by Project Niagara can be accommodated on top of the existing traffic without causing unacceptable conditions from both a safety and an efficiency perspective for motorists. We are currently awaiting the assessment of the Town and the Region of the Delcan Traffic Impact Study and are prepared to accept any further recommendations they may have. For now we have accepted all of the Studys recommendations including: 1. A need to reduce the size of the parking lot on the festival site from 2,000 cars to 1,500 cars. 2. A need to undertake a Traffic Management Study should Project Niagara be funded. The purpose of the Traffic Management Study would be to a) identify park and ride lots at the perimeter of Niagara-on-the-
