What was the process in becoming the architect for Poppy Ridge?
My father had done Spyglass Hill, my brother did Poppy Hills and the NCGA probably thought it would be a nice troika to have the other member of the Jones family do Poppy Ridge. I interviewed with the board and we just hit it off. How was it working with that site? It was a rugged piece of property. It had fantastic views. There were virtually no trees. I think there was one tree and we kept it, so we kept all the trees (laughs). It was just an opportunity to build something different. Dad had the dunes at Spyglass Hill, Bobby had the woods at Poppy Hills and I had the open site at Poppy Ridge. So it gave the NCGA an opportunity to have a different style golf course.
