They Grey-headed Flying-fox is a protected native species and is listed as vulnerable under the NSW Threatened Species Conservation Act of 1995 and Federal level under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999. Their population decline is attributed primarily to habitat loss. Relocation must be approved by both State and Commonwealth Governments.
