What was the popular clothing for teenage boys in the 1960s?
UK: Look up ‘Teddy Boys’ in the late 50’s early 60’s, then along came the Beatles who were the leaders in fashion. All teenage boys had to have ‘winklepicker shoes’ – long, usually black leather shoes with long pointed toe cap. Straight jacket with high collar – sometimes called ‘bum freezers’ and drain pipe trousers. Slim ties came into fashion……………. Greasy hair in what was called a ‘Tony Curtis’ followed by the Beatle style and the start of long hair. p.s. the Hippy era did not come until later………….
