What was the point for the tree of knowledge?
The Tree of knowledge was put in the garden as a test. They were to obey God and not touch the tree he forbid them to touch. If they had been obedient they would have gotten to eat from the other tree they were not to touch…The Tree of Life…It would have given them eternal life in the paradise. But they did not remain faithful and we have been sinning and dying ever since.
Humanity’s ultimate goal is to become just like dear old Dad. The Bible makes it clear that God wants us to think of Him as Our Father, and every father wants the same thing for their kids: to grow up and be like him. In the Garden, our cradle, we had the option of choosing one of the two aspects of godhood: infinite life or infinite knowledge. We chose the knowledge and got kicked out before we could get the other one too. This way, we have to go through the same developmental process that all kids go through. We are on our way to becoming godlike at this time. He knew what we would do when He made the offer.
