What Was The Play Troilus And Cressida By William Shakespeare All About?
The play Troilus and Cressida is not considered as one of the better works of Shakespeare; to put it politely. The name of the play alludes to and is drawn from the Medieval tales of these two lovers at the time of the Trojan War; the stories of these two lovers is not from any earlier source such as Greek literature of the Trojan War. Even though the play was about the love between this son of Priam, Troilus, and Cressida there is not much of a part of the latter in the play. The story goes that the two of them grow intimate and are soon lovers, they even profess everlasting love, but when Cressida is exchanged with the Greeks for a prisoner exchange she soon finds love in the arms of Diomedes. Troilus witnesses this and thinks of himself a fool and Cressida something worse.
