The debut album by the band The Chicago Transit Authority, later to be known as Chicago debuted in 1969. They were initially called “The Big Thing”, eventually taking the monikor The Chicago Transit Authority in 1968. The band fused brass and jazz with soulful rock and roll feel as their trademark sound. Originally keyboardist Robert Lamm, guitarist Terry Kath, and bassist Peter Cetera all shared lead vocals. Kath’s prowess as a guitarist was so strong that even Jimi Hendrix became a major fan of his playing. The album was released in April, 1969 called The Chicago Transit Authority and proved to be an immediate hit. Some of the great songs from this album were “Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?”, “Beginnings”, “Questions 67 and 68”, and “I’m A Man”.
