What Was The Name Of The Sea Monster Sent To Kill Andromeda?
Ketos Aithiopios also called as the Kraken, was the name of the Sea Monster sent to kill Andromeda. The monster was sent by Poseidon who was enraged by the Athiopian Queen Kassiope who would praise her daughter’s beauty to no end. She went on to compare her daughter’s beauty with Nereides and to put an end to this bragging the monster was sent to kill Andromeda. Andromeda was actually offered as a sacrifice to the monster. When Perseus saw her chained to the rocks, Perseus killed the monster and took away Andromeda as his bride. The Ketea were monsters who belonged to the sea. The two known Ketos were one who was killed by Herakles and the other one was by Perseus. Ketos are depicted as a snake like beast with long, sharp teeth.
