What was the motive given for killing his parents, brothers and sisters?
It has been strongly speculated that the murders were the result of a fake robbery committed by RDJ a week prior to the murders and that the robbery was a catalyst. However a strong motive was of course money. This could explain why he killed his father since it has been said that most of his issues were with the patriach of the DeFeo household. He was close to his siblings, in particular his sister Alison, and was proud of his brother Mark’s athletic abilities in football, which makes me wonder why he would kill them as well since he loved them? My best guess would be that they were witnesses to the commission of a crime being in the vicinity at the time.
