What was the most difficult part of Bitter Roots to write?
Wow. That is a good question. Many scenes in the book were tough to write. However, the rape incidents were the most challenging. It was an important, significant and sensitive story that I needed to tell. I want women of all ages to know that no matter what horrendous situation they have had to overcome, it does not define who they are. What message do you hope readers will gain from reading your novel? There are countless Christian women living in the shame of their past. Revelations 12:11 states, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony…” We must come out of our shame and tell our stories so that God can use our testimonies to help someone else. Did you have a favorite Character? I loved something about all of the characters. Each one gave something to me, whether it was simply a lesson in love, and/or forgiveness.
