What was the most challenging thing about playing Tuba?
Tuba does a lot in the movie. She dances and plays the tuba and the bass. Learning the cheers and the dances was the most difficult part for me. I kind of dance like Elaine from Seinfeld, so it was a little bit hard for me to get it. It was helpful that she wasn’t supposed to be awesome at it. Did you do any special training to master your cheerleading moves? We had a really great cheerleading coach that was there with us for the dancing and the cheerleading stuff. I had done a little bit of cheerleading in high school for basketball season, so I knew some of the jumps. I don’t know how, but that stayed with me. I was a more agile than I thought I was going to be. What was your favorite scene to shoot in the movie? I really loved the scene with me and Andi [Rachel Skarsden] where she’s trying to teach me the facial expressions that are necessary and proper for a cheerleader.
