What was the lifestyle of New England colonies?
The New England colonies lifestyle was greatly impacted by its geography and climate. New England’s economy depended a lot on the environment. People made money by fishing, whaling, shipbuilding, trading posts and providing naval supplies. In the New England colonies people could not make a living by farming because of the fertile land. The climate was also a cause for the land to become fertile. Growing season was too short to make farming profitable. Civic events were also central to New England. Once a year, male adults would meet to participate in the decision making process. Their social lives revolved around village events and attending church. New England Colonies were founded by religious reformers and separatists seeking for religious freedom.
