18 in NY. On 12/04/1984 the new age regs started started and the age went from 18 to 19. Then on 12/04/1986, he age went from 19 to 21. I know because that was my birthday. It was a real mess for a while because the age changed at different times in many states so some kids drove from NY to VT to drink and then had to drive like 50 miles home after being in a bar. I think Louisianna was the last to change their age because they make so much in taxes from booze, especially during Mardi Gras.
