What was the L.A. rave scene alike back then before DROID came about?
VIDAL: The Electronic Music scene was more about Trance, House and Drum’n’Bass. Techno was kind of there, but not really. It didn’t have a dedicated following back then. MOE: But the rave scene in L.A. was humongous. Every weekend 15000 people partying. Anywhere from gigantic warehouses to the middle of the Moave desert, four hours away from civilization… Doesn’t really sound underground with such numbers?! How did it work out legally? MOE: I don’t think at that time they were really aware of what was going on. The gang thing in L.A. was really big. There were worse things going on in the city, that people didn’t really pay attention to the rave culture. But as it got bigger and bigger, the drugs started getting out of control and then it became a massive deal. Every single weekend the cops were busting parties, everybody was going to jail for it.
