What was the first movie that Ginger Rogers made IN HOLLYWOOD?
Tough question, Duhaussie. A good source of information is the Internet Movie Data Base. They show Ginger Rogers first Los Angeles (Culver City) production as “The Tip-Off.” It was released on October 16, 1931 where she played the role of Baby Face. The studio was RKO Pathe Pictures. They show that she had a film released on March 21, 1931, “Honor Among Lovers,” with Fredric March and Claudette Colbert as a film done for Paramount’s Long Island Studios (from a review found in Variety). Well according to wikipedia her first three film roles were in short films Night in the Dormitory, A Day of a Man of Affairs, and Campus Sweethearts while she was signed to a seven-year contract with Paramount Pictures. These were filmed from 1929 to 1930 as she got herself out of her contract after that.
