What was the first day of summer in the southern hemisphere?
The ‘Official’ first day of Summer in Australia is always the 1st of December. In fact the ‘real’ first day of Summer in the Southern hemisphere is the Summer Solstice, which takes place on the 20th or 21st of December and the season lasts until approximately the same date in March when the Autumnal Equinox takes place as the beginning of Autumn. Winter starts on or about the 20th or 21st of June. Springtime starts on or about the 20th or 21st of September during the phase known as the Vernal Equinox. What we officially call it is quite often different from what it actually is. There’s no changing the stars’ alignment.
