What was the first #0 issue out there, regardless of an origin story or not??
The first one I have been able to find was Zap #0. Zap was an underground comic created by Robert Crumb in the 60’s, and the first issue was all his work. He invited other artists to contribute to issue #2 onward, and a new issue comes out every 3 – 5 years at this point, with the last one being #15 coming out in 2005. The reason there was a #0 was that Crumb had drawn a complete comic that was going to be Zap #1, but the artwork was stolen so he drew a NEW comic. Later, Crumb discovered he had made photocopies of his art, so he retouched it and printed it as Zap #0. There were comics that COULD be called a #0 back in the 40-‘s, but they were referred to as “ashcans” and were quick print jobs to secure copyrights. The most famous was “Motion Picture Funnies Weekly” which had the first Submariner and Human Torch stories before Marvel Comics #1 debuted the characters and Flash Comics from Fawcett which had the first Captain Marvel story, although his name in the story was “Captain Thunde
