What was the fate for Germany after WWII?
West Germany was occupied by American forces. East Germany fell under Russian occupation. The city of Berlin was divided into 4 sectors. A wall was erected to divide the democratic and Communist parts of the city. West Germany became an industrial powerhouse with strong economy. German brands like BMW, Mercedes, Krupps, & Siemens became synonymous with quality of engineering. East Germany became a police state under the overbearing influence of the Communist secret police (Stasi), and fell into deep poverty with environmental degradation. The two Germanies were reunited in the early 1990’s, as the Soviet Union collapsed and the Communist bloc crumbled.
