What was the Emancipation Proclamation and what was its effect on the Civil War?
The Emancipation Proclamation was an order issued by Lincoln in 1863, freeing all slaves behind confederate lines. The proclamation changed the war’s purpose. Before, the war was about reserving the union, after the proclamation, it became a fight for slaves freedom. it also allowed free blacks to enlist in the union army.
