What was the effect of the Copernican theory on theatre?
The Copernican theory didn’t have much of a direct effect on theatre. It was proposed in Poland, and finally demonstrated in Bohemia:- neither country had a dramatic tradition. The Copernican theory had a minor influence on eroding the credibility of the established church (Roman Catholicism), and partly helped the rise of Protestant mercantilism. And protestant mercantilism in turn probably helped a little in fostering the rise of a commercial theatre. But the direct effect of Copernican theory on the drama was almost non-existent.
