What was the difference between the North Vietnamese Army (NVA) and the Vietcong?

0

Basically the Vietcong were insurgents fighting from within South Vietnam and the NVA was the regular army attacking from the North. Vietcong refers mainly to a guerilla army (People’s Liberation Armed Forces) which was the military arm of the National Liberation Front… which was the organistion of South Vietnamese dissident communists established and controlled by the north.
