What was the concept behind calling the hotel Golden Mile?
‘In the old colonial age the Mount Lavinia used to have golden sand which used to stretch one mile long. So in the colonial days it was known as the golden mile. Some people still refer to this stretch as the golden mile so it is basically there to define the colonial name that was given’.
