What was the Comic Making Tournament?
The Comic Making Tournament (CMT) was the grand finale to the CCP in New Haven. It was a full day activity that had kids participating in various events to win prizes for making comics. The first CMT was held June 2, 2007, in the New Haven Public Library’s Program Room and the Activity Room of the Children’s floor. • What were the events? There were five: short-form pre-drawn, short-form original, long-form pre-drawn, long-form original, and speed. The short-form events were based on making single comics while long-form emphasized multipage arcs. Pre-drawn events used templates where kids only had to fill in dialogue, while originals used blank templates that required artistic expression.
