Well the Communist who were supported by Communist Russia decided to get all the farmers and workers to revolt and fight back against the Chinese government. The leader of the communist(who actually called them selves the people’s liberation army) was mao zedong and the leader of the nationalist(the other side) was Chiang Kai-shek. The Communist took over and chiang kai-shek fled to taiwan and called it the republic of china. While mainland china was now communist and called it self the peoples republic of china. The United states recognized taiwan as the real china untill a few years later(not sure when). The results were that the US could not trust PRC and they actually fought against PRC during the Korean War. Their were many plans to bomb mainland china but truman refused to start a global war with china.
