Ward, 61, has been charged with second degree murder in the shooting death of Diane Elizabeth Ward, 55. According to the arrest affidavit, Ward called 911 at 7:50 p.m. Monday and told the operator, “I just shot my wife … she’s dead .. She’s on the floor of the master bedroom.” Ward then told the operator that the gun was in the night stand next to the bed. Ward is the owner of the property at 5277 Country Club Drive, where the 911 call originated. He is the Chairman and CEO of the Land Resources investment company. Deputies said they had never been called to the house for any disturbance – in fact, it is rare for them to be called to the close-knit community.
