This is a question that would take more time to go over and explain than I have time for. So as my answer, I would direct you to a copy of Dan Raviv’s book COMIC BOOK WARS, which tells the story of those times. It’s a financial history book, so it does tend to be a little bit dry, but it recounts the ins and outs of what was going on in those days better than i could in this limited space, and in far greater depth.
