CMU student who died in stairway fall identified Friday, August 28, 2009 By Jim McKinnon, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette A Carnegie Mellon University student who fell to his death yesterday in a campus stairwell has been identified as Rohan Vakharia, 19, of Gainesville, Fla., the Allegheny County medical examiner said. An autopsy is set later today to determine the cause of death. Mr. Vakharia was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:15 p.m. in the stairwell in Wean Hall, a computing services building, police said. Pittsburgh homicide detectives are working to determine whether the fall was intentional or accidental, the medical examiner said.
