What Was The Biggest Hurricane In History?
The biggest hurricane in history was a fast-moving Atlantic hurricane which hammered into Britain from the west. It took place for six hours as it battered its way eastwards through the night and it killed 8,000 people and thousands more injured. By dawn the following morning, it had moved on to Scandinavia, but it left behind a 300-mile wide trail of devastation across England and Wales, all the way from Cornwall to the Wash.
