She was a great rule for many reasons. First you need to know Catherine the Great wasn’t Russian. She was German. She was married to the Tsar and ended killing him to taken his place. She was also a great political and military leader, and a lot of the current russian territory has been acquired during her reign. For example, she’s responsible for conquering all of Crimea (the region around the Black Sea) and also for the Partitions of Poland. She also participated in many wars which she mostly won with the help of great generals. Also, during her reign russian culture became very important.
