In X-Force (1st series) #45, the Beast gave Shatterstar a full physical, which led to the first of many hints of Shatterstars origin being false. Also, in #46, a man, Benjamin Russell, looking very similar to Shatterstar, was in the files of the Weisman Institute, in which Siryn was working undercover in for Cable and Xavier.
