What was Shakespeare thinking when he wrote romeo&juliet?

This amazing guy! What was he thinking when he wrote all his plays? He was a genius. He just had an idea in his mind of what would bring in the punters. He needed to fill the theatres to keep old Anne in the manner to which she had become accustomed. Once she was happy, he could keep womanising. She didn’t care! He was a true romantic though and I’m sure that half the stuff he wrote, would have been dedicated to someone else. He imagined what it would be like to live without the true love of his life (not Annie, sadly!) and put some imagination into that. True genius is being able to put yourself in someone else’s shoes. I guess!
