What was like for children during world war II in London?

A lot of children were evacuated to the countryside but a lot had to stay and many were killed in the bombing. During a raid you had to spend the night in an air raid shelter if you were lucky or under the kitchen table or stairs if you didn’t have a.shelter. Schooling was disrupted, sometimes the schools were bombed, most things were rationed and things like bananas and oranges were unobtainable. There were no lights to be shown after sunset everything was blacked out which made going out at night dangerous. On the plus side the bombed sites became a wonderful adventure playground for small boys.
