What was it like working with Damian Marley and Snoop Dogg on this album?
With Damian, we have a history with his family. [Cypress Hill] did the Smokin’ Grooves tour with Ziggy and the rest of the Marley family. We built a strong relationship with them. They were always good friends to us, and we reciprocated. We all look out for each other. We asked them to be on the Cypress record [“Unsorted”] and they gave us back an incredible song, which was “Ganja Bus.” He asked me to be on this remix for it and I was like, “Yeah, no problem.” And then it came time to work on my record, and I produced this song for him called “Fire.” Originally, it was a club type of song … I said [to Damien]: “You know what? You’d be perfect for this song for my solo record …” So we sent it to him, he liked it a lot, he put a verse on there and a chorus. I had to go back and change everything that I did because he killed it, and it inspired me to do something better than what I had done … [The collaboration with Damian Marley] turned out to be cool and it was totally by chance.
