What was it like to coach Mack Brown in high school?
He was an excellent player, a real good player, a very good leader. He and his brother both played for me and they both were good leaders. Mack has some great leadership abilities, but I didn’t know he was going to go into coaching at that time. I don’t think he did either, but he’s done an excellent job ever since then. How have you seen his traits as a player show up in his coaching? He was a good people person, he does a great job now, and I think that’s one thing that’s really helped him in his coaching career. What you see is what you get. He’s an excellent person. Coach Brown is known for his strong relationship with the state high school coaches, as a former coach, how important is that? I think that’s very important. That’s the lifeblood there. Recruiting is one of the major parts of football this day and time. I think the closer you get with the coaches [the better, and] he does an excellent job with that, and I think the coaches appreciate it. He’s got an excellent staff, too
