What was it like growing up as a kid in Goulburn?
I just grew up around sport pretty much. I loved my cricket in summer and football in winter. I was a bit of a nerd, really. Well, not a nerd, but I was quiet. It was all about sport. What was your best subject at school? I’ll have to say PE. I wasn’t really good at anything else. Were you the star player as a kid? No, I certainly wasn’t the best in my team growing up. I had to work hard. Do Goulburn people make jokes about the Big Merino the same way everyone else does? Yeah, it’s the same story. We make jokes about how big its balls are and how its nose looks like a big, err, well, you know. I was actually in town when they moved it out to a big new service station a few years ago. There were all these helicopters flying past and I could hear cop sirens and everything. It cost like $2 million to move. You made a big move yourself last year when you went to North Queensland. Tell us about it. It was great. I was working in the local pub, the Barron Valley Hotel, and playing for the At
