What was it like being a classmate and teammate of Matthew Stafford in high school?
Two athletes of that caliber in the same class is pretty amazing. Kershaw: We grew up with each other. We were pretty good buddies all the way up. We played soccer starting in the second grade. That was the first sport we played together. I was the goalie. I wasn’t very fast. I was a little pudgy kid. He might have been a little more athletic than I was. We started playing baseball together that year, too. We played baseball up until my sophomore year in high school when he quit to focus on football. I quit football after my freshman year. I played offensive and defensive line. SN: I understand you played against Stafford’s youth league football team that was coached by Stafford’s father. What was that like? Kershaw: We played six-man (YMCA) football. Most people have three linemen, two running backs and a quarterback. And if they wanted to throw a pass, they’d throw it to one of the linemen.
