What was is like being around Viennese teachers and students?
It was so wonderful. I hadn’t planned on doing the internship actually, but I decided to do it and it was really good just to feel like I was getting a little more into the culture like meeting locals and really interacting with people on a deeper level than at a hotdog stand or at a restaurant. Did you have to know the language for the internship? No, I had only had one semester of German before going to Vienna and all the teachers at the school spoke English. My little bit of German background was good because some of the kids, especially the little ones, didn’t speak any English and they would just come up to me and talk in German. Mostly I could understand what the kids were saying and could answer simple questions. What was your most memorable experience? I guess the day I left, the last day teaching. I was getting really upset about having to leave Vienna in general, especially the school. I went in and the kids were all sad and everyone was running up and hugging me and they had
