What was Gottfried Leibniz version of the cosmological argument?
What has been said is very true. Basically Leibniz believed that the universe cannot be just a “brute fact”. In other words, the universe (and everything it entails) cannot exist just because it exists. He believed this because he found that everything dependent on another object or event (for example x happened because y caused it to happen) to explain it’s existence, or, the reason for somethings existence is explained in itself – it is self evident. Seeing as the universe is not self evident, it could be argued, therefore, that the universes reason for existence was dependent on something causing it to exist.
