What was going on in Greece politically and socially when Plato made the Allegory of the Cave?

You know, some parts of Politeia and the text of the Allegory of the Cave is being tought in Greek High Schools. I am ashamed that I have tought it but I can’t remember when the Allegory was written. As far as I can recall, there is an assumed date of the construction of “Politeia” of Platon and not for the Allegory of the Cave alone. It is obvious from it’s text though, that the Allegory was written AFTER the death of Socrates and probably after the self-exile of Plato and his GREAT DISAPPOINTMENT from the political scene, not only in Athens but also in Syracuse, where he tryed to practice in real life his own model of a political state, his believes on this matter (how a Politeia=political governing of a state) are being described and analyzed in his Politeia, which is a long extended work, with many issues, like the specifying of the social classes, the women’s role etc. Do you have a homework on Zoze’s Saramangu work “The cave”?
