What was English upper class society in the late 1800s like?
I know it was known as the Victorian Era, named after Queen Victoria who reigned without a king. I’m pretty sure a wikipedia search on the subject would explain the details of it better than I could, sorry to pass the buck there. You probably know the era as it’s been popularized by such works as Sherlock Holmes and Shanghai Knights. English Upper class society was pretty exclusive and had a lot of mannerisms and notions of culture (think snobby tea parties), most of which have formed the basis for our notion of manners and class today. Hope this helps and good luck.
