What was England like in the Jurassic era? Were there dinosaurs?

The Jurassic covers quite a long period, For much of the Jurassic many parts of what is now England were underwater so marine sediments, such as those now exposed on the Dorset coast which are rich in Ammonites and other marine fossils. Similar sequences can be found on the North Yorkshire coast as well. You have to appreciate that the geography was completely different – what is now Britain was on the edge of a large continental landmass and what would become Britain, while slowly moving northwards was in tropical latitudes. see : http://www.bbm.me.uk/portsdown/PH_065_Pa… High areas such as what would become Scotland, and the Welsh highlands, and what is now the london area were above sea level, We have no real evidence for dinosaurs being inhabiting these areas but it is pretty certain they did as dinosaurs seem to have colonised pretty much everywhere there is dry land.
