What was behind the shooting of a honeymoon couple at the Coco Hotel in Antigua?
After marrying on July 12, a British honeymoon couple, both 31, were on the last day of their honeymoon when at least one gunman burst into their hotel cottage at 5am on Sunday (July 27). Doctor Catherine Mullany, formerly Bowen, was shot in the head and proclaimed dead on the scene. Mr. Mullany was also shot in the head, and was brain-dead but on life support until he died on Sunday (August 3). It is believed that the incident was a robbery gone wrong. This morning (August 5) the police in Antigua released their prime suspect in the murder because his alibi checked out, and in a statement about the progress of the investigation, Antigua police said: “Certain evidence was secured but we are unable to release any details at this time as this may jeopardize the case. No one has been formerly charged with the shootings thus far. However, officers are currently following a number of leads and a number of persons have been taken into custody and questioned.
