What was a death march in the holocaust?
Jews were forced to walk long distances to the concentration camps. If they fell or could not keep up, they were executed or perhaps beaten to death. Once they got to the camp they were often held inside the fence with little to eat if they got anything at all. Then they were told that everything was about to change and that they had to go to the showers. The showers were actually the gas chambers. They were called death marches because the only real outcome was death.
